STOFFEL
The custom luminaire family STOFFEL was designed in 2019 especially for the visionary Uptown Mels project by architect Michael Meier together with Tulux AG and Mosersidler AG for lighting planning. It breathes new life into the eponymous textile factory.
A new residential district is being developed above the wine-growing village of Mels, in a prime location for scenic views. The renovation of the former weaving mill (the “Weberei”) in autumn 2019 marked the conclusion of the first phase of construction. The second phase ended in summer 2020 with the completion of the “Öffnerei” building. The third of four phases ended by 2022 with the completion of the spinning mill building (the “Spinnerei”). The new dyeing building (the “Färberei”) is planned for mid 2023.
Where industrial aesthetics meet modern living comfort – architect Michael Meier turned to a custom lighting solution by Tulux for the high, archaic-looking stairwells. As construction work progresses in Uptown Mels, the luminaire collection will also continue to grow – be inspired by the SWISS LIGHT CREATIONS that have been realised.
